From 2023 to 2025 I worked alongside Te Rehia Ratu, who is now working at K'aute Pasifika as a Community Support Worker (Mental Health). Part of her mahi involves running a programme called Talagafa - which is an art therapy focused programme that supports Pasifika Youth to express themselves.

When I caught up with Te Rehia to show her some of my own work at Toi Manako Studio, she asked if I would come in to talk to some of their rangatahi. So I said yep, okay - as I do to many of these things. Her idea was for me to do a presentation on my own journey and do an activity afterwards to learn how to live illustrate like how we were taught to do Live Illustration...

I thought that was cool but I had a better idea, to do a visual goals activity where we could explore the past, present and future and how we can overcome the barriers stopping us from reaching our goals.

So we did that!

We did our visual goal activity, we shared back to the room afterwards. Some were wanting to travel, others wanted to return to their islands and help support the school, I did my own goal too - which was to build more connections, do research and spend more time at home with my cat.
